Trekking to the Mardi Himal Base Camp (4200m) is a beautiful and new (officially opened in 2012) short alternative trek of Ghorepani -Punhill -Ghandruk, a beautiful five days trek in the Annapurna Himalayan region with suberb view of southern face of Mardi Himal (5587m), gigantic Annapurna South as well as Machhapuchhre (Mount Fish Tail). Summit of the peak itself is also possible if you allow extra two days with little bit of climbing techniques as well as basic climbing equipments. Mardi Himal Base Camp is located to the east of the Annapurna Base Camp under the spectacular Machhapuchhre. One of the few authentic homestay and camping trekking experience remaining in Nepal. Basic food, primitive lodge and tea houses makes the trek wilderness adventure and less crowd which is possible to trek without tented camping. Our itinerary is well designed and shortest verson available not to spend a lot of times in the forests to see jungles instead of mountains.

DETAILS OF ITINERARY:

DAY 01: ARRIVE KATHMANDU

Airport representative of Mountain Consultant Treks & Adventure will receive you and transfer by private vehicle to the hotel. Leisure day to adjust with altitude, weather and time difference as well as to take rest from jetlags. to the culture shock of medieval Kathmandu, with its bustling bazaars interspersed with shrines and temples and interesting architecture. In the evening you can either eat in at your hotel or venture out to one of the many restaurants in Thamel. Overnight at hotel

DAY 02: WALKING TOUR IN KATHMANDU 3 HRS

Walking tour of Kathmandu’s cultural heritage sites listed by UNESCO for 3 hours including Kathmandu Durbar Square, Monkey Temple & local markets towards South of Thamel. Later part of the rest of the day is for trekking permit (TIMS), national park permit and final packing for the trekking.

DAY 03: DRIVE TO KANDE (1770M/5806FT) 7-8 HRS

After breakfast at hotel, we leave the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu behind by driving on our own car. Our journey into the Himalaya begins with a scenic drive to Kande though Nagdhunga, Malekhu, Mugling and Pokhara. At the top of the Kathmandu valley the views extend west as far as the Annapurnas and Manaslu. As you drop down into the Trisuli valley you’ll pass through terraced hillsides, where an exciting, narrow road traverses several ridges to reach the small village of Kande. Kande is a small village with wide view of Pokhara and Annapurna Himalayan range. Overnight at the teahouse

DAY 04: TREK TO FOREST CAMP (2540M/8331FT) 7-8 HRS

After having breakfast at Kande, we start our trek reaching Pothana first. The trail is enjoyable throught the forest and villages in the horizon. Continuing further will take us to Pitan Deurali, the lunch spot. After lunch, the trail is mostly inside the green forests of oak, mapple, hemloc and rhododendron for three to four hours. Forest Camp is a small village with few guest houses and known as Kokar among local people. The last sgement of the trail is difficult due to its steep up. Overnight at the teahouse.

DAY 05: TREK TO LOW CAMP (3035M/9955FT) 5-6 HRS

After breakfast, we have another day to walk inside the forest thus we won't have much open view until we reach close to the Low Camp. The higher we reach the vegetation changes with more rhododendron trees in smaller size. The trail is steep and the beginning however changes to gradual climbing after awhile. The views of Machhapuchhre peak is supreb from Low Camp. Low Camp is not a permanent village, a very small place with only couple of lodges opened for providing basic food and lodging to trekkers. DAY 06: TREK TO HIGH CAMP (3535M/11595FT) 4-5 HRS

As we trek higher, the route becomes more open and spacious but less oxygen in the air due to the lack of forest. Overnight at Tented Camp

DAY 07: UPPER VIEW POINT (4200M/13775FT) HIKE, TREK BACK TO LANDRUK VILLAGE (1560MM/5117FT) 8-9 HRS

We trek through deep rhododendron and pine forest which leads to Rupchet or Singla Base Camp through where we will have chance to see some wild animals including monkey. Himalayan tahr, Gaur, Musk Deer and many others wild animals. Rupchet is the base of Singla Top and we will consider one more day rest if some of the group member feels uncomfortable due to the altitude signs and symptoms. Overnight at Tented Camp.

DAY 08: TREK TO NAYAPUL (1500M/4920FT), DRIVE TO POKHARA 7-8 HRS

Toughest day for the whole trip due to the steep walk to Shingla pass. Wake up early in the morning and have light breakfast before to start the trip and carry pack lunch for the way in between. Soon we arrive on top, views starts to open up and the pass offers breathtaking view of Mount Ganesh himal, Mt. Langtang, Manaslu and many other lesser peaks. Way down to Kharka (pastureland –open place for grazing animals) for overnight stay. Overnight at Tented Camp

DAY 09: POKHARA

From now on, the journey starts to go down steeply through land terraces and villages to Borang. Borang is a nice typical Tamang village. Overnight at Tented Camp

DAY 10: DRIVE TO KATHMANDU, 160KM

The roads to Dhadingbesi, administrative headquarter of the Dhading district, moves through unpaved road for approximately two hours. Soon after we meet paved road at Dhading Besi, we drive another half an hour to meet Kathmandu –Pokhara highway which leads us to Kathmandu. It can be best defined as scenic journey due to the beautiful views of rivers, hills, terraces, forests and villages. Overnight at hotel

DAY 14: AT LEISURE IN KATHMANDU

An opportunity to relax and reflect on your adventures and to complete any sightseeing and last-minute shopping. Overnight in hotel.

DAY 15: ONWARD DESTINATION

We will serve you appropriate vehicle to transfer you to Kathmandu International Airport as per group size.
