Langtang region treks start from Syabrubesi via Dhunche and passes through traditional Tamang villages of Goljung, Gatlang, Thuman, Timure and Briddim which lies on the lap of Langtang Himal with Tamang hospitality at the community based homestays and ancient Tibetan Buddhist monasteries.

Visiting an ancient Tamang monastery and the beautiful Parvatikunda Lake at Gatlang, observing panoramic view of Lantang, Kerung, and the Ganesh Himal, Sanjen Himal ranges from Nagthali View Point which also used to be a popular meditation center for the local monks and priests. After the trek of several days, bathing in the hot, healing waters of the natural spring at Tatopani is an exhilarating experience. Timure is on the old trade route to Tibet. A fort at Rasuwagadi is a historical reminder of the Nepal –Tibet relations at where a suspension bridge links Nepal and Tibet.

Khanjim & Sherpagaon links to the main Langtang Valley trekking trail –the valley of glaciers” which offers pine forest, swift mountain streams, rugged rock and snowcapped peaks, grassy downs and meadows strewn with daisies and wild primulas. In the upper part of the valley have snow ridges spanning angry torrents, high passes enveloped in mist, tiny lakes of crystalline brightness and glaciated mountain giants. Trek through a sub-tropical jungle, then a dense forest of oak, birch and pine before the valley opens out into alpine meadows and yak pastures. In the spring these high meadows are carpeted with a rich variety of alpine wild flowers also the forests are also in full bloom with rare tree orchids and the colorful rhododendron -Nepal’s national flower. Forests are also well known for their wildlife, including red pandas, Himalayan black bear, wild boar and langur monkeys. Beyond Langtang village is the summer settlement of Kyanjin with its small gompa and cheese factory amongst yak pastures, dominated by the fluted North West face of Kangchenpo, whilst Kyangjin Ri at 4708m provides a splendid viewpoint; panorama of snowcapped including the awesome Langtang Lirung, Pemthang Ri, Langshisha Ri, Dorje Lakpa, and Kangchenpo, Tilman’s fluted peak.

Drive to Syabru Besi (1470m), 6-7 Hrs

Leaving the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu behind, journey into the Himalaya begins with a scenic drive to Thulo Bharkhu, a lovely village of Tamang majority. At the top of the Kathmandu valley, the views extend west as far as the Annapurnas and Manaslu. As you drop down into the Trisuli valley, you’ll pass through terraced hillsides to Trisuli Bazaar, where an exciting, narrow road traverses several ridges to reach the small town of Syabru Besi (1470m) via Dhunche (1970m), a good view point for Langtang as well as Jugal Himalayan panorama.

Trek to Gatlang (2338m), 5-6 Hrs

Leaving Syabrubesi in the morning, one hour and half of ascent will bring us to the view point from where we can see the fantastic view of Ganesh Himal, Gosainkunda range and the Goljang valley. Now, we head one hour down to Goljung valley for the lunch. Gatlang is another beautiful Tamang village three hours further from Goljung. Upon arrival the guests will be welcomed by Khada (white scarfs) and the home made local drinks Rakshi accompanied by the welcome song in local language. Get refreshed and enjoy the local Syabru dance. Overnight lodge.

Trek to Tatopani Village (2607m), 5-6 Hrs

The walk begins by descending to Thangbuchet (near Chilime village) by the Bhotekoshi River. CHilime Hydropower dam is situated here which is first hydro-project invested, architected, constructed and managed by Nepali people. After lunch, the trail will be ascending up crossing the hanging bridge. Ascend continues until we get to Tatopani (Hot Spring). After long and strenuous ascent, we cleanse ourselves in natural hot springs with bathing areas in the lap of the mountains. Locals believe that the waters have a healing quality that eases your aches and pains. Dinner and overnight stay at local tea house.

Trek to Thuman (2338m), 5-6 Hrs

The trail ascends to Nagthali Danda (3165m), the high open grassland with amazing views of snow covered Himalayas. Stop for lunch at Brimdang village. One can enjoy the view and spend sometime at the top accompanied by tea prepared by the care taker of the Gompa. Trek continues down to Thuman, Tibetan influenced Tamang village with friendly people who love to sing and dance. Dinner and overnight at community lodge.

Trek to Britdim (2229m) via Lingling, 6-7 Hrs

The trail begin with flatter in the beginning and descends to Timure en-route to the old trade route to Tibet, our lunch spot. Rasuwagadhi (Nepal-Tibet border) is just 2 hours away from here and lies on the bank of river. The trail continues to Briddim, another Tibetan influenced Tamang village. Home stay at Briddim is a unique experience. All accommodations, lodging and food are offered at the individual houses. Each host family provides clean bed, toilet and a family dinning room. The visitor enjoys the evening with the host family, living with them, eating traditional foods and sleeping at their usual bed. Plain rice, Tibetan bread, Syakpa (Sherpa Stew), Potato, Tibetan tea, Briddim wine are the indigenous food that we get here. The visitor can also observe the local indo-rituals and cultural practices with the host family and go on village walks to see the lifestyle, traditions and customs of the people. The locals gather in the evening in their traditional costume, performing cultural songs and dances, welcoming the visitors.

Trek to Sherpa Gaon (2580m), 5-6 Hrs

Leaving the Britdim village, the trail asccends for three hours including steep ascend between two villages; Wangal Village and Khamjum village. Sherpa Gaon is three hours away. We have relatively shorter trek today with another beautiful day since the trail remains on the high side. Passing through small villages of Khangjim and Bhanjyanggaon, the trail flattens for next two hours to Sherpa Gaon, our overnight place. The village offers another brilliant views of the Langtang Himalayan range. Stay overnight at lodge.

Trek to Langtang Village (3300m), 6-7 Hrs

Leaving the Sherpa Gaon, the trail descends through the Rhododendron forests and stunning view of Langtang Himal and Gosainkunda valley beofre finally reaching to Lama Hotel via Kimche settlement. Leaving Lama Hotel village, we continue the climb up the Langtang Valley. The area here is still forested and again you might catch a glimpse of a red panda. After a short while the mighty peak of Langtang Lirung comes into view from the north. Passing a waterfall, we continue up the west bank of the Langtang Khola and pass through the hamlet of Gumnchok. After a couple of hours the valley begins to widen and the trail flattens We pass through Ghoda Tabela (stable of the horse) where the trail pass a National Park checkpoint and then cross a small wooden bridge and continue through the forest. Around 3150m you climb above treeline. Approaching Langtang you will see a 400 year old Buddhist gompa (monastery) on your left and a few minutes later you climb into Langtang village itself. Overnight at the teahouse.

Trek to Kyanjin Gompa Village (3800m), 4-5 Hrs

From Langtang, you continue up the ever-widening valley to Kyanjin Gompa. After passing through the Upper Langtang village, we walk past a series of long mani walls. TO the east, we will gain great views of the Dorji Lhakpa Peak with Urkinmang peak to its left. Also to the south, the peaks of Naya Kanga and Pongen Dopku will come into view. After a steep, undulating trail you will cross a rise and Kyanjin Gompa will appear. Kyangjin Gompa lies in an elongated amphitheatre surrounded by high, snow-capped peaks. Overnight at the teahouse.

Trek to Kyanjin Ri (45100m), 3-4 Hrs. Or, Hike to Tsergo La (5000m), 8-9 Hrs

Early morning hike to Kyanjin Ri for two hours and it will offer the great views of Langtang Lirung (23,765ft/7,245m), the Langtang glacier, Kimshing peak with its glacier and to the south, a long ridge on top of which is the Ganja La, a high pass to Helambu. Alternatively you could continue east to the valley and visit the Lagshisha glacier which marks the end of the Langtang valley. A hike to Chergo La has the best Mountain View. Returning back to the Village in the evening. Overnight stay at the teahouse.

Trek to Ghoda Tabela (2400m), 6-7 Hrs.

Wake up another perfect morning for the last view of Langtang Himalayan ranges. After breakfast, trek down to Ghoda Tabela for 6-7 hours. We gain great views returning down the valley, especially the sun flitting through the leaves once we have dropped below the tree line. Overnight stay at the teahouse.

Trek to Thulo Syabru Village (2260m), 7-8 Hrs.

The trail descend down to Pairo (Landslide) and ascend to Thulo Syabru Village. En route, we may see red pandas, monkey and various species of birds. Thulo Syabru Village is a long and big village, top half consists small hotels and lodges while the lower part of the village is full of traditional Tamang village. This village is a perfect for learning about the influence of Tibetan Buddhism in the Tamangs living. Overnight stay at the teahouse.

Trek to Lauri Binayak (3800m), 6-7 Hrs.

Wake up early morning to visit the small but old Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Thulo Syabru village. Leaving the village, we ascend all the day through the forests, rice fields, cairns before reaching to the Cholang Pati by climbing 1200m. One hour and half further ascend to the Lauri Binayak village. Overnight stay at the guesthouse.

Trek to Gosainkunda Lake Village (4380m), 4-5 Hrs.

Leaving Lauri Binayak, we continue climbing and rise above the tree-line with stunning panoramic views of the mountains around. Ganesh Himal rises up to the north and Langtang Lirung is to our east. We also will be able to see Manaslu and even the Annapurnas including Machhapuchare (the ‘fish tail’ peak) and Annapurna II. We pass through Laurebina Yak (yak without a stick), and after a moderate climb we will reach a stupa, again with stunning views all around. The land becomes more rugged as you follow the trail passing a lake on your right called “Saraswate Kund”. After crossing the shoulder of a ridge, we descend a little and another lake comes into view. This one is called “Bhairav Kund”. After another short climb we crest a ridge and the sacred lake Gosainkund opens out. Overnight at the teahouse.

Cross Lauri Binayak La (4610m), trek to Tharepati (3600m), 6-7 Hrs.

The trail leads to the northern side of Gosainkunda Lake, crosses a moraine, passing three more small lakes; you will reach Lauribinayak La (4610m). The trail descends to a National Park Post at Bhera Goth (4240m) and to Phedi (3740m). From Phedi, the route drops and climbs through scrub bamboo to Dupichaur (3630m) and descends finally to Ghopte (3440m). Further descending from Ghopte, the trail makes several ups and down across morains, then makes a final ascent to Tharepati observing the fine scenery along the path. Overnight at lodge.

Trek to Kutumsang Village (2500m), 5-6 Hrs

Leaving Kutumsang, the trail passes through forests of fir, juniper and rhododendron. Couple of smaller settlements such as Magengoth (3420m) and Panghu comes through the way before finally to reach to Kutumsang. The view from here is breathtaking. Overnight at lodge.

Trek, 2-3 Hrs. Drive to Kathmandu, 6-7 Hrs

After breakfast, trek further for 2-3 hours. The drive to Kathmandu in public bus will take 6-7 hours with very difficult drive as most of the road is off-road and not in conditions.
