Langtang region treks start from Syabrubesi via Dhunche and passes through traditional Tamang villages of Goljung, Gatlang, Thuman, Timure and Briddim which lies on the lap of Langtang Himal with Tamang hospitality at the community based homestays and ancient Tibetan Buddhist monasteries.
Visiting an ancient Tamang monastery and the beautiful Parvatikunda Lake at Gatlang, observing panoramic view of Lantang, Kerung, and the Ganesh Himal, Sanjen Himal ranges from Nagthali View Point which also used to be a popular meditation center for the local monks and priests. After the trek of several days, bathing in the hot, healing waters of the natural spring at Tatopani is an exhilarating experience. Timure is on the old trade route to Tibet. A fort at Rasuwagadi is a historical reminder of the Nepal –Tibet relations at where a suspension bridge links Nepal and Tibet.
Khanjim & Sherpagaon links to the main Langtang Valley trekking trail –the valley of glaciers” which offers pine forest, swift mountain streams, rugged rock and snowcapped peaks, grassy downs and meadows strewn with daisies and wild primulas. In the upper part of the valley have snow ridges spanning angry torrents, high passes enveloped in mist, tiny lakes of crystalline brightness and glaciated mountain giants. Trek through a sub-tropical jungle, then a dense forest of oak, birch and pine before the valley opens out into alpine meadows and yak pastures. In the spring these high meadows are carpeted with a rich variety of alpine wild flowers also the forests are also in full bloom with rare tree orchids and the colorful rhododendron -Nepal’s national flower. Forests are also well known for their wildlife, including red pandas, Himalayan black bear, wild boar and langur monkeys. Beyond Langtang village is the summer settlement of Kyanjin with its small gompa and cheese factory amongst yak pastures, dominated by the fluted North West face of Kangchenpo, whilst Kyangjin Ri at 4708m provides a splendid viewpoint; panorama of snowcapped including the awesome Langtang Lirung, Pemthang Ri, Langshisha Ri, Dorje Lakpa, and Kangchenpo, Tilman’s fluted peak.
