In order to improve the quality of life in remote mountain villages, the Government of Nepal working on connecting each beautiful mountain villages by road. The great challenge is the increasing numbers of buses and jeeps passes through poorly made road with dust and disturb trekkers. Road construction loose the earth causing landslide, rock-fall as well as mudslide. It also shortening the length of the trek and its challenging everyone. We have taken it as an opportunity to develop alternative, off-the-crowd trekking route and Annapurna Alternative Trek was developed as an Annapurna Three Viewpoint Trek having each of viewpoints their own uniqueness.

Moharehill Viewpoint has jaw-dropping panoramic views that extends from Gurja Himal right up to Himalchuli with Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South and many others 6000m peaks in between, and looks down on Pokhara Valley including the Phewa Lake.

Poonhill Viewpoint is the climax of trek in Khopra Ridge –Ghorepani section with climbing Poonhill at dawn to enjoy most spectacular mountain views. As the sun touches the snow-capped summits the Himalayan giants, Dhaulagiri (8,167m) and Annapurna (8,091m) along with a maze of other peaks, slowly begin to appear, like magic, before our eyes. Enjoy trekking in the spectacular mountain scenery through charming villages inhabited by the Gurungs, dense rhododendron forests full of birds and deep sub-tropical valleys, all set below the Annapurna with the picturesque fluted peak of Machhapuchhare (Fish Tail Peak) dominating the skyline.

Khopra Ridge and Muldehill Viewpoint commands a majestic sweep of the central Himalaya from its 3,650m. ARRIVE TO KATHMANDU. OVERNIGHT IN KATHMANDU

You will be received from the Kathmandu International Airport and transferred to the city. Later part of the half day will be trek preparation including permit preparation and final packing. In the evening, dinner and program interaction. Overnight at hotel.

DRIVE TO POKHARA (820M) 6-7 HRS


Please take your breakfast and be ready in lobby of your hotel at 6:00 hrs. Our Trekking guide will come to the hotel to pick you up. After a short walk you will rich to Pokhara bus station from where you drive to Pokhara. At Pokhara we can enjoy an afternoon’s sightseeing on the lakeside & boating at Phewa lake with your trek guide (Optional).

DRIVE TO GALESHWOR, TREK TO BASKHARKA (1525M) 8-9 HRS

After breakfast in Pokhara, we will have four hours scenic drive to Beni Bazar following dirt and windy Beni -Baglung ‘highway’ via Nayapul. We continue driving down to Galeshwor. From here, you begin trekking and reach Bas Kharka (1525 m) in some three hours. You’ll be crossing the Kali Gandaki River on the way and your accommodation at Bas Kharka will be at somebody’s home (homestay).

TREK TO NANGI VILLAGE (2270M) 7-8 HRS


Nangi Village is the village of Magsaysay (Asian Nobel Prize) award winner Mr. Mahabir Pun who is well recognized by Ashoka Foundation, the Ramon Magsaysay Foundation, University of Nebraska and Global Ideas Bank. He is innovator, social entrepreneur, activist and teacher who extended wireless technologies to develop remote areas of the Himalayas. His father, retired Gorkha, is running a nursery farm at the village. Nangi modal village is located in western Nepal on the Southern flank of the Annapurna (8091m -10th highest peak in the world) and Dhaulagiri (8167m -07th highest peak in the world) ranges of the Himalayas. TREK TO MOHARE DANDA (3200M) 5-6 HRS

The path out of Nangi village is fantastic hiking with view of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Himalayan ranges with many other 6000m peaks followed a dramatic ridge through rhododendron forests, alpine meadow without any villages’ en-route. The landscape changes dramatically with gaining almost 1000m in a day. A perfect place for sunset and sunrise over the Dhaulagiri –Annapurna Himalayan ranges. SUNRISE FROM MOHARE DANDA VIEW POINT (3300M), TREK TO GHOREPANI (2860M) 6-7 HRS


After an early start at around 05:30 to ascend to Mohare Danda (3300m). 45 minutes to one hour steep climb leads us to a brilliant viewpoint, providing an unobstructed sunrise over the high Himalayas. After spending half an hour on the hillside, we come back to the lodge, have a hot breakfast, and start walking to Ghorepani. Overnight stay at Guest House.

SUNRISE FROM POONHILL (3210M), TREK TO SWANTA VILLAGE (2270M) 6-7 HRS

After an early start at around 05:00 hrs, we will ascend to Poon Hill (3210m), one hour steep climb leads us to a brilliant viewpoint, providing an unobstructed sunrise over the high Himalayas. After spending half an hour on the hillside and enjoy a good cup of coffee or tea, we come back to Ghorepani, have a hot breakfast, and start off to Swanta Village via Chitre Village. The trail descends all the way to the Swanta Village. The charming village is widely spread over the hillside which has primary school with a basketball court and a nearby temple dedicated to the Hindu deity Ganesh.

TREK TO KHOPRA RIDGE (3600M) 7-8 HRS

Head north, ascend and head up the valley traversing the side of the hill above an unseen Dhakse Khore stream below. Walking towards Khopra Ridge, the trail passes beautiful waterfall, steep and sometime the Ghoral animal. The view of the lush green valley below is stunning and Ghorepani can be spotted across the way at a notch in the ridge. From here, we have a stead ascend from the Upper Shistibung lodge and go through alpine meadows and pasturelands. As we continue on the trail, we see the tip of the Annapurna South emerge in the distance which means we are almost to the Khopra Ridge. Lunch will be ready when we arrive at the lodge. The lodge itself offers view of the Mount Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Annapurna South, Annapurna Fang and many other countless peaks. After lunch, we have short climb to the Mulde Hill View Point to appreciate the sunset over the panorama of Dhaulagiri & Annapurna Himalayan ranges. Overnight stay at Community Lodge.

SUNRISE FROM KHOPRA RIDGE, (3673M), TREK TO DOBATO (3420M) 5-6 HRS


Wake up early in the morning to have sunrise view. Return back to the lodge to have a hot breakfast. Begin the trek with descending vial small trail until small pond which we passed during the Chistibung –Khopra Ridge walk. The narrow trail passes just bottom of the Annapurna South (7219m) with grassy land and bamboo and rhododendron forest. We stop at the hamlet called Bayeli Village for the lunch. Dobato is just an hour and half away from here. It’s a small village with handful of guesthouses accommodating trekkers passing to Khopra and back to Ghorepani. Overnight at lodge. Optional: Day hike to the holy Khayer Lake and Annapurna South Glacier.

SUNRISE FROM MULDE VIEW POINT (3637M), TREK TO KIMRONG DANDA (2200M) 7-8 HRS


Wake up early in the morning for 45 minutes hike up to the ridge called Mulde View Point which offers superb views of high Himalayan ranges; Annapurna, Dhaulagiri as well as Machhapuchhre to Wake up early in the morning to have sunrise view. Return back to the lodge to have a hot breakfast. After breakfast, we descend down to Kimrong Danda via Tadapani with lots of ups and down. Tadapani probably be our nice lunch spot with a view over Himalayan range and deep Kimrong valley. The trail to Annapurna Base Camp branches off here. Overnight stay at the Little Paradise Guest House.

TREK TO JHINU DANDA HOT SPRING (1700M) 5-6 HRS

Enjoy another beautiful sunrise view over the Himalayan range before having breakfast. After breakfast, we descend down to Ghandruk village. Explore around the beautiful Ghandruk village before heading down to Jeep stand from where we have jeep ride to Pokhara. Afternoon, explore around the Lakeside of Pokhara. Overnight stay at the hotel

TREK TO SEWAI JEEP STATION, 4-5 HRS. DRIVE TO POKHARA, 3-4 HRS

The trek from Jhinu Danda to Sewai jeep stand 4-5 hours including a gentle walk up. The first part of the trek is downhill, followed by some flat land until you reach Himal Pani. Here you find a beautiful waterfall. Beyond this village, the trail ascends gently crossing numerous streams and terraces. After a short trek, you will be at jeep stand, here board on the Bus for an hour drive to Pokhara, on reaching at Pokhara within the Phewa Lake side area. If you will be early back, you will have walking around Lake Side town.

FLY/DRIVE TO KATHMANDU

After breakfast, drive to tourist bus station for the return drive by by standard tourist bus to Kathmandu. If you fly, An opportunity to relax and reflect on your adventures and to complete any sightseeing and last-minute shopping. Overnight in hotel.

DEPARTURE

After breakfast, drive to the Kathmandu airport for the departure flight to home.
