VIEWING EVEREST IN DIFFERENT WAYS
There are many different ways to view world highest Mount Everest from Nepal depending on budget and availability of time. Shortest, cheapest and easiest option is one hour regular flight by plane from the Kathmandu airport which is called Everest Experience Flight. Other easiest but most expensive option is flying over to the Everest View Hotel or Kongde View Hotel at an altitude just below 4000 meter above sea level. It takes four hours round trip with spending an hour having hot breakfast and appreciating view of the entire Khumbu Himalayan range which is called Breakfast with Everest. Other longer options which involves Trekking and Hiking Holidays including 7 Days Everest Panorama Trekking, 12 Days Everest Base Camp Trek and 15 Days Gokyo Valley -Chola Pass -Everest Base Camp visit.

Chiwong Monastery is spiritual happening place in Solu Khumbu district of Dudh Kunda region of eastern Nepal which is three hours walk from Phaplu airport. Perched a cliff (2750m), the monastery is hosting Mani Rimdu Festival from 31st October to 04th of November, 2020. Pikey Peak Trek with Mani Rimdu Festival Observation is a perfect alternative trip for adventure, cultural and spiritual experience.
DAY 01: DRIVE TO MULKOT (493M) VIA DHULIKHEL (1550M) 98KM, 4-5 HRS
In order to cross traffic of Kathmandu and Bhaktapur cities; especially at Chakrapath and Koteshwor intersection, start morning drive from Kathmandu. Drive through Bhatbhateni Supermarket in Bhaktapur for snacks supply for the trip, stop at roadside of Sanga village to observe Shiva statue. Kailashnath Mahadev Statue is world tallest Shiva Statue and second tallest Hindu deity after Garuda Visnu Kencana Statue in Bali, Indonesia (iconic 21-story and 121m tall monument depicting Hindu deity Vishnu riding the legendary bird Garuda).
Arrive in Dhulikhel for the panoramic view of the entire Himalayan range in distance. Stop by at the Himalayan Jafa Coffee House for good coffee, you are going to miss it during the whole trip especially if you are coffee lovers. From Dhulikhel, we drive on the newly and Japanese made B.P Highway (Sindhuli –Bardibas Road) and drop the altitude significantly via beautiful towns of Bhakunde Besi and Nepal Thok.
Complete 98KM drive in four –five hours and arrive to Mulkot, Taj Riverside Resort and Akshit Resort are two good accommodations in town. Recreational hub for refreshment, meals, rafting adventure, bicycle riding, hiking with scenic view, swimming in pool or in Sunkoshi River, overnight stay.
DAY 02: DRIVE TO DHAAP VILLAGE (2950M) 143KM, 6-7 HRS
After breakfast, Mulkot –Dhap drive follows alongside the Sunkoshi River valley and arrive at little town of Khurkot. Road to Manthali airport branches off here. Starting from 01st of April, 2019, Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) decided to stop most popular Kathmandu –Lukla flight and re-routed from the Manthali airport in Ramechhap. Leaving Khurkot, 60KM drive to reach to another hamlet of Ghurmi from where road to Halesi Mahadev Temple (for Hindus) and Maratika Cace (for Buddhists) splits. We take higher route via Okhaldhunga Bazaar to reach to the Dhap village.
Dhap Bazaar is a border village of Okhaldhunga and Solukhumbu district which is 200KM and 9 hours drive from Kathmandu. Two other ways to reach the Dhaap Bazaar; 30 min flight to Rumjatar airport and two hrs drive, 30 minutes flight to Phaplu airport and two hours drive. Chagesthan and Pattale village are nearby to Dhaap from where newly opened Pikey Peak Trek route, Lower Everest Trek route and Paanchpokhari –Mera Trek starts. The village has old but beautiful stupa and sunset view over the panoramic but distant view of Mount Everest, Mount Numbur and eastern Himalayan range is perfect.
DAY 03: SUNRISE. WALK AROUND VILLAGE, STUPA. AFTERNOON, DRIVE TO SALLERI & PHAPLU (2413M) 32KM, 2 HRS
Wake up early in the morning and 10 minutes walk to Stupa for sunrise view. Enjoy the breakfast, walk around and visit houses nearby for rest of the morning. Drive to Salleri and Phaplu bazaar for two hours.
The twin towns of Salleri and Phaplu are bazar towns with airstrip, hotels, guest houses and local restaurants. Explore local eateries and try Tibetan momos, fried noodle etc. Overnight stay in Phaplu/Salleri
DAY 04: EXPLORE TOWNS. HIKE TO EVEREST VIEW POINT (3000M), 3-4 HRS. DRIVE TO DHAAP VILLAGE 32KM, 2 HRS
After breakfast, 1.5 hour hike to the Ratnange Danda, the hill which offers panoramic view of Mount Everest, Mount Number and Himalayan range. Return back to the town for lunch and further exploration. Drive back to Dhaap village for two hours. Overnight at lodge
DAY 05: DRIVE TO KATHMANDU (1300M) 240KM, 9-10 HRS
Let’s start the long driving day by early morning breakfast (as early as 06:00). After breakfast, we drive back to Kathmandu on the same road for nine to ten hours depending on the traffic in Bhaktapur and Kathmandu. Trip ends!
