Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) and local people has protected an area in north of Pokhara which is known as Annapurna Sanctuary lies just beneath the southern slopes of the Annapurna Massif and has panoramic views of Dhaulagiri, the Annapurna range, Manaslu and Ganesh Himal. The Sanctuary is an easy trek from Pokhara and takes one through some of Nepal’s most lovely rhododendron forests to the Ghorepani, Poonhill and eventually to the Annapurna Base Camp through Typical Gurung village at Landruk, Ghandruk and Chhomrong, (fishtail) Machhapuchhre Base Camp, spectacular mountains view from Annapurna base camp, sunrise and mountains view from Poon hill, natural hot spring at Jhinudanda, Gurung & Magar culture, mostly walk inside conserved area. This is set at 13,000 feet in an amphitheater surrounded by half a dozen peaks more than 21,000 feet tall.

04) June – Aug: clear sky in the morning but movement of clouds in afternoon with drizzle below 3500M & snowflakes above
Acclimatization: This itinerary has been designed to prevent Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). The higher you go the lesser oxygen available. For a safe trek it’s essential to allow sufficient time for acclimatization. Sensible planning is therefore required to minimize the risk of AMS. We advise specially to the guest(s) with heart/ lungs/ blood diseases to consult the doctor before trek because some people can be more susceptible than others. Mild headache, fever, loss of appetite, and stomach disorder are symptoms of AMS. Going up too fast may causes serious illness.

DAY 01: ARRIVE KATHMANDU

Airport representative of Mountain Consultant Treks & Adventure will receive you and transfer by private vehicle to the hotel. Leisure day to adjust with altitude, weather and time difference as well as to take rest from jetlags. to the culture shock of medieval Kathmandu, with its bustling bazaars interspersed with shrines and temples and interesting architecture. In the evening you can either eat in at your hotel or venture out to one of the many restaurants in Thamel. Overnight at hotel

DAY 02: WALKING TOUR IN KATHMANDU 3 HRS

Walking tour of Kathmandu’s cultural heritage sites listed by UNESCO for 3 hours including Kathmandu Durbar Square, Monkey Temple & local markets towards South of Thamel. Later part of the rest of the day is for trekking permit (TIMS), national park permit and final packing for the trekking.

DAY 03: DRIVE TO POKHARA (820M/2690FT) 6-7 HRS
Please take your breakfast and be ready in lobby of your hotel at 6:00 hrs. Our Trekking guide will come to the hotel to pick you up. After a short walk you will rich to Pokhara bus station from where you drive to Pokhara. At Pokhara we can enjoy an afternoon’s sightseeing on the lakeside & boating at Phewa lake with your trek guide.

DAY 04: TREK TO TIKHEDHUNGA (1525M/5002FT) 5-6 HRS
After breakfast in Pokhara, we will have an hour scenic drive to Naya Pul following dirt and windy Beni -Baglung 'highway'. After submission our conservation permit and trekking registration certificate to the ACAP authorities (Ghandruk trail splits here), we commence our trek to Birethanti hamlet beside the Modi River. We head up the main trail to Sudame where we climb gradually up the side of the valley, reaching Hile (1495m) before pushing on to Tikhe Dhunga.

DAY 05: TREK TO GHOREPANI (2860M/9380FT) 6-7 HRS
Today we spend a pleasant day’s walking, trekking through rhododendron and oak forests and across the Bhurungdi Khola stream before making a short, final climb to Nangethanti (2460m). After lunch in Nangethanti we head up to Ghorepani.

DAY 06: TREK TO POON HILL (3210M/10528FT) & CHUILE (2300M/7545FT) VIA TADAPANI (2630M/8626FT) 6-7 HRS
After an early start at around 05:00 hrs, we will ascend to Poon Hill (3210m), one hour steep climb leads us to a brilliant viewpoint, providing an unobstructed sunrise over the high Himalayas. After spending half an hour on the hillside and enjoy a good cup of coffee or tea, we come back to Ghorepani, have a hot breakfast, and start walking to Chuile from Tadapani. From Ghorepani the trail climbs along ridges and through pine and rhododendron forests to Deurali (2960m). We descend to reach Banthanti, our lunch spot. After lunch, the trail climb to the Tadapani and drops down to Chuile.

DAY 07: TREK TO CHOMRONG (2210M/7248FT) 5-6 HRS
Dropping down from Chuile -Gurjung, the route offers good views of the upper Modi valley. The path then starts the long ascent high above the west bank of the Modi Khola. We then arrive in the village of Chhomrong (2210m) which lies tucked at the very base of Himal Chuli. Chomrong is the last permanent settlement in the valley.

DAY 08: TREK TO DOVAN (2540M/8331FT) 6-7 HRS
Descending to cross the Chommrong Khola River by suspension bridge, we enjoy some excellent views of Machhapuchare today (now exhibiting its distinctive ‘fishtail’ profile) and Annapurna South. We continue to climb steeply, negotiating a trail that leads us through oak and rhododendron forests until we reach a welcome teahouse on top of the ridge at Sinuwa (2350m). The ascent to Kuldigarth (2470m) is then more gradual, continuing through more lush forest to our lunch stop at the Bamboo Hotel (2340m). This afternoon we continue our ascent towards Dovan, beyond which lies the unofficial gateway into the Sanctuary, walking through wet bamboo forest to reach our accommodation later this afternoon. Ascent 750m/ descent 550m. Overnight teahouse.

DAY 09: TREK TO MACHHAPUCHHRE BASE CAMP (3720M/12201FT) 6-7 HRS
The track continues up past the so-called ‘weeping wall’ and the shrine to the ‘God of the Jungle’, to the Himalaya Hotel (2840m). Passing several spectacular waterfalls which cascade down the opposite side of the Modi Khola, we climb through bamboo forest to reach Hinku Cave at 3100m. Crossing to Deorali (3140m) for lunch, we then climb further to pass between Machhapuchare and Huinchuli – the ‘Gates’ into the Sanctuary. Climbing over rocky moraine we arrive at Machhapuchare Base Camp (3720m) later this afternoon. Overshadowed by Annapurna South and the beautiful shape of Machhapuchare (machha, fish’ and puchare, ‘tail’), one of Nepal’s holy mountains, this is a quite awe-inspiring setting in which to end our day’s trekking, the mountain landscapes providing us with a sight to raise the spirits of even the most tired amongst us. DAY 10: ANNAPURNA BASE CAMP (4130M/13546FT) & BACK TO DEURALI (3230M/10595FT) 7-8 HRS
We spend the morning enjoying the views within the very heart of the sanctuary. Having made a 'crack of dawn' start to get the best of the day, we follow part of the route taken by British mountaineer Chris Bonnington on the 1970 Annapurna South Face Expedition. Following west along a moraine to the north of Hiunchuli, we reach several stone buildings at 4130m and then ascend to a spectacular viewpoint. Here we have amazing views of the peaks encircling us including close up views of the South face of Annapurna I which towers over the Sanctuary and also of Annapurna South glacier. We will have time to enjoy this special mountain panorama, to sit amongst the edelweiss and watch the ice carving its way from the glacier, before an afternoon descent to overnight at the Himalaya Hotel. Total walking: Approx 7 hours. Ascent 430m/descent 1320m. Overnight teahouse .

DAY 11: TREK TO SINUWA (2340M/7675FT) 5-6 HRS
Descend down after beautiful view of Annapurnas during the Sunrise and back down with good memories of trip along the Modi river path, which climbed going up.

DAY 12: TREK TO JHINUWA DANDA (HOT SPRING) (1400M/4592FT) 4-5 HRS

Descend a long, stone staircase through bamboo and rhododendrons forests to Kuldi. The trek continues through beautiful rhododendron forests and down to Sinuwa. From Sinuwa, the trail leads downhill to the Modi Khola, closing the day with a steep climb to Chhomrung the path dropping away towards the Jhinuwa, overnight here.

DAY 13: TREK TO NAYAPUL VIA NEW BRIDGE: 5-6 HRS, DRIVE TO POKHARA: 1HR

Trek downhill through villages and terraced fields to Syauli Bazaar, then onto Nayapul before being transported back to Pokhara from Nayapul and overnight stay in Pokhara. If you will be early back, you will have walking around Lake Side town.

DAY 14: DRIVE TO KATHMANDU 6-7 HRS (A,B)

Return to Kathmandu by standard tourist bus. Transferred to hotel.

DAY 15: AT LEISURE IN KATHMANDU. (A,B)

An opportunity to relax and reflect on your adventures and to complete any sightseeing and last-minute shopping. Overnight in hotel.

DAY 16: FLY BACK. (B)

We will serve you appropriate vehicle to transfer you to Kathmandu International Airport as per group size.
